Development
February 1st, 2024 - April 19th, 2024
Joe ‘n Jo was developed by a small group of 8 people over the course of 3 months.
I was the Lead Developer alongside Dean Goodson. Together we managed scope, had meetings with team members, and overall created the majority of the game.
We had great support by:
Ryan Powers - Lead Gameplay Programmer.
Alyssa Pettit - Lead Environment Artist.
Elicia Sarmiento - Lead Character Artist / Key Artist
Lukas Knappenberger - Lead Sound Designer
Zachary Lorenz - Lead Composer
Joshua Buckmann - Programmer
Some of the highlights of my specific contributions to the game besides my leadership are:
Online multiplayer
Using GodotSteam and SteamMultiplayerPeer I was able to add online multiplayer into the game, allowing any two friends to play through the entire game together
Game Design
The entire game concept of two giraffes who use physics to climb through a level. This kind of gameplay was inspired by games like Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy.
UI Design
I created and designed all of the UI elements and flows throughout the game. I animated all of it using Godot’s tweening system.
Overall, I’ve spent most of my days since the start of development in-engine. I had an amazing experience working with all of my team, we were able to create a great game in such a short amount of time.
